The municipal election is here. You should already have your ballot (they were mailed out the week of April 13). Don't forget to vote. There are several important races that impact our district, including the District 4 council seat currently held by Peggy Lehmann. Peggy is term limited and we have the duty to pick the next leader for Southeast Denver.

Quick Facts:

• Election Day is May 5th. Make sure you vote by 7PM on that day.
  
• The closest ballot drop off location is at the Southmoor Light Rail Station
• The closest Voter Service & Polling Center is Christ Community Church (8085 E Hampden)

This election will be conducted by mail-in ballot. A ballot will be mailed to all active on April 13. Voter service centers will also be available for in-person voting. If you need to register to vote, go here: https://www.sos.state.co.us/voter-classic/secuRegVoterIntro.do.

Keep your eyes open for suspicious behavior. See below regarding a car break-in on Pontiac:

Our car was broken into yesterday morning on our driveway. We have submitted a police report but, of course, there's no way to do anything about this random theft/vandalism. 


The non-emergency line for the police is (720) 913-2000. Any time you see anything suspicious or to file a police report of your own, please call this number. It's incumbent on us to keep watch over our neighborhood. The police can help protect us best if they have a complete picture of the crime in the area. Also please email [email protected] so that we can keep the entire neighborhood in the loop.

You've probably seen the large accumulation of construction equipment on Floyd today. This is in preparation for a water main replacement project on several sections of Eastman and Niagara streets. Residents on the streets that are directly impacted were sent a letter about the project. See the attached letter.

Here are some of the details:

• Project to begin in early March
• Project will take approximately 2 months
• Traffic detours may be in place periodically
• Water outages may be possible, but 24 hours notice will be given to the affected households

Denver Digs Trees, Get Yours For Cheap
The Park People’s tree distribution program — Denver Digs Trees — has helped add a ton of green to city blocks. And though it seems a wee bit early to be thinking about spring, now’s the time to apply for FREE medium to large shade trees that will be distributed in the spring. This year all Denver residents are eligible for the freebies, regardless of where they live in the city. Trees that normally cost as much as $125 are $35 per tree ($10 if you live in one of 27 target neighborhoods or free to those with financial hardship) if you agree to plant them in the public right-of-way (the green belt between a sidewalk and the street) and/or in your yard. Apply early and get your choice of tree variety specially selected for our climate. And you’ll have to pick up your tree(s) on April 18 (yep, you have to plant them yourself). Learn more and apply online at The Park People website.
